sesame crust salmon

A couple of weeks ago I went to a chick brasserie in Brussels. Located in one the most fashionable suburbs, Lola Brasserie created an atmosphere where time stops whilst you sit and enjoy a meal with friends and the rest of the world is rushing by. I had this amazing salmon, crusted with sesame seeds, a lovely way to turn one of the most common fish into something exciting.

I thought it might be difficult to recreate it at home, but I couldn’t have been more wrong!


  • 2 good quality salmon fillets – I either buy wild or organic
  • 2 tbsp each black and white sesame seeds
  • pinch of salt


  • mix the seeds and the salt in a bowl. The bowl should be able to fit in your salmon
  • coat the salmon by pressing it into the mix, the seeds should stick very easily to the fish
  • cook the salmon in the preheated pan with a tiny bit of olive oil, about 5-6 min each side

Serve with a generous amount of side salad and sprinkle with some lime or lemon juice.
